What do you do, when someone is telling lies about you….

Today I was asking God: what do you want me to write about today? The entire day nothing came up, until now.

Let me take this back a little and share something with you. For the past couple of days I have been praying and asking God to change me. God teach me how to be humble, quiet, gentle and give me your peace that surpasses all understanding….. OOH – And God let me see myself from your eyes – WELL!!! Today was my test, here is my story.

Someone approached me and asked me about a lie somebody is spreading about me. I could not believe my ears, how could this person spread such a big lie about me? They don’t even know me – if they would know me they would understand that the lie they are spreading does not fit my profile……… And I went on about it in my head.

I then finally thought well I’m going to leave this person in God’s hands. Then someone told me, you should report them and show them who you are. Teach them that they can’t just spread such a lie about you…….. To be honest that would be my old way of handling such a situation, however I immediately received an uneasy feeling about it. NO that is not God’s way.

( proverbs 24:29) Don’t say, “You hurt me, so I will do the same to you. I will punish you for what you did to me.” (Proverbs 20:22) Don’t  ever say, “I’ll pay them back for what they did to me!” Wait for the Lord. He will make things right.

I will wait on the Lord!!!

God showed me how selfish I was because of my hurt. My unbelieve that someone could say such a thing about me and call me names that do not fit me at all. But this is not about me, this is about a person that is clearly broken. A person that is hurt and heartbroken believing their own made up lie. This causes many people hurt but most importantly it’s causing this person even more hurt for themselve. God reminded me that I was in that place ones, the only difference being that in my case it was true. However for this person their made up story is also very true in their own mind – painfull.

I then thought about Jesus on the cross who cried out: God forgive them please they don’t know what they are doing. That is the same way we should be with people that hurt us. If Jesus asked for foregiveness for them then I should ask for foregiveness for this person as well. Not only forgiveness but also for God to deal gently with this person and comfort this person during their pain. The bible says what good do you do if you love people who do good to you? Even sinners can do that! No, do good to the people that hurt you and persecute you – Luke 6:33

You know this whole time I had such a peace within me, deffinately not my usual self. My response was gentle and I was humble about the situation – and then I was quiet and heard God speaking. Romes what wrong do you have in all this? 🤔 I thought about this and then the following came to mind: Keep yourself from any appearance of wrong doing – 1 Thessalonians 5:22

I did not do anything wrong however the appearance could of created wrong ideas. So I was also wrong, God forgive me for the ignorance I have sometimes 😔 I’m sorry for causing a person pain because of not thinking about how the situation could have an appearance of wrong, even though it was in a group of people.

Today was an experience that could of turned ugly, however I’m happy that God walked with me every step of the way. The reason I was able to handle this situation with peace, gentleness, humbleness and quietly — is 100% because of God and 0% because of me. God allowed me to see myself from his eyes and it made me take a step back, because I’m defenately not perfect and have many things to change.

Do you want to know something??? Dealing with this in God’s way is such an AMAZING experience that words are not enough to explain.

LOVE YOUR ENEMIES: “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies. Pray for those who treat you badly. If you do this, you will be children who are truly like your Father in heaven. He lets the sun rise for all people, whether they are good or bad. He sends rain to those who do right and to those who do wrong. If you love only those who love you, why should you get a reward for that? Even the tax collectors do that. And if you are nice only to your friends, you are no better than anyone else. Even the people who don’t know God are nice to their friends. What I am saying is that you must be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.(Matthew 5:43-48)

Every day we have a choice of which road we take, I know out of experience that God’s road is best. Thank you for today Jesus, Praise the Lord.

God loves you much ❤️

  2. Whoa there, girl. I understand where you’re coming from, but God doesn’t expect you to take it like a doormat either. Getting angry doesn’t make you bad; sometimes it’s just your conscience acknowledging when something is bad or evil. It’s how we act on it that determines this.

I guess my point is, I doubt God wants you to take this lying down. Perhaps he’ll give you the power to befriend this person, and get rid of that ugly rumor. You shouldn’t have to feel like you’re obliged to ignore it, you know? God helps those who help themselves.

    1. Thank you for reading my post and your comment. God will guide my footsteps, it’s not so much about me but about him. I need to decrease so that God can increase. Doing this is not a weakness but a strength, depending fully on God. God will turn this to good at the right time, awaiting God creates endurance in us as well. Thank you for your thoughts on this, I really appreciate it. Have a blessed day.

    2. I agree with you here. Everybody seems to think as Christians being angry is a sin. But even Jesus showed anger. What He DID say re anger was “In your anger do not sin.” There is a subtle difference there! ☺

  6. With all that is happening in the world today, loving our enemies is truly something we all need to practice. Giving a personal application helps others to see the hard reality of what it takes to be a Christian. For the last year, I have been working on applying the command to love my enemies very seriously. It has been rewarding.
