Who likes to receive gifts???

Well – God gave many of us beautiful gifts, however are we taking care of our (kids) gifts correctly?

Psalm 127:3 – (KJV)Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
To be honest I have been reminded of this verse for the past two days now. I love my children all 3 of them very much, however lately they have felt more like a burden than a gift. The Devil is a liar. It’s not easy to raise 3 kids by yourself, however thats no valid excuse to see your kids any other way then a gift of God. God’s words are true and if God calls our children gifts from him then they are gifts indeed.

God has reminded me several times during the past two days that: My kids are a gift from God.

That changes things!!!  I’m not only raising my kids, NO i’m raising kids that belong to Almighty God.

In the beginning of creation God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and to multiply.

Genesis 1:28 (KJV) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

If we look at the Bible to see what the fruits of the Spirit are we see that there are 9 fruits of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Outside of this being a list of attributes we need to make sure we learn and apply in our own lives we also need to teach our kids these atributes and it does not stop there. In the Bible we are also instructed to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to people, then how much more are we to teach this to our kids?

Before I was in waiting mode because I do not have the right structure in my household. As a single mother I do not have a husband to take on the role of being the head of my home. Single or not, God still entrusted me with my 3 kids. Better single with God then being in a relationship were God would be compromised because of the fathers ( mothers)  saying they believe in God but live nothing like it. Parents without God will teach their kids everything but the way of Jesus.

One day God told me that he is an organized God and that my household was not organized. As I was always thinking about marriage God used that to make something clear to me. I should have an organized household before expecting a husband from him, because my kids were a gift from him to me first and this is one of my responsibilities. God also taught me that he did not just give me my kids, no he entrusted me with my kids to raise them up in him.

I know now that I’m not ready to get married yet ( marriage used to be something I held as an Idol, I’m honest here 😬) My assignment towards my kids still needs improvement, quite frankly my assignment of self still needs improvement as well. ( We will always learn and grow as long as we live with God)

Seeing my kids as a gift from God, changes the way I look at myself. I’m not perfect, however do want to do my best to raise them up in God. Teaching them about God and the words of God (bible) so that God can use them to fulfill the purpose he created my kids for when the time is right.

The Bible says in: Proverbs 22:6 (KJV) Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

I want my kids to go in the way of God Almighty. What about you, which way do you want your kids to go?

Remember,

God loves you much❤️

  1. I don’t have any of my own, but I have worked & cared for them on a daily basis, so I can relate to the good days & bad days. Great perspective….lovely post 🙂

  2. Pity the poor children in foster homes who are victims of the system. Today I googled abused foster children and read of murder after murder. I cannot get that picture out of my mind.

  3. This is my heart right here! I want nothing more then for Jesus to tell me “well done good and faithful servant” with regards to training up my children. They ARE. A gift. They ARE a blessing. And they are His children, entrusted to us to train up in His ways for a time being…beautiful post!
