Let’s talk — Communication

Who said leading a team is easy? Who said leading two departments in one is easy? Who said leading a fairly big group of men and a group of women is easy?

Today lots of things to do and many written out – plans that became non plans, ah the way of a luxury operation. Sometimes non communication can lead to a negative atmosphere and employees that are discouraged and unhappy. Today I was to busy to keep both departments running smoothly and then I was called out for a meeting and had to leave the departments in the hands of my supervisors.

When I came back I noticed a negative atmosphere among my team of ladies. To be honest I thought it would be okay to leave it like it is. I thought I’m tired and I did not eat yet, I’m sure tomorrow everything will be fine again. However God did not agree, he said Romy call in a meeting. I really did not feel like it and wanted to come up with reasons not to do it, however God had other plans.

I called the ladies together, Even though I did not know yet how I was going to start. I know that if God wants it, that it is best to follow. God said again Romy it’s not about you, this needs to be done. So we started, I talked about my expectations and my disappointments. I then gave everyone a turn to talk about their feelings. In the beginning some were negative and I thought why did I start this meeting we are not solving anything, however I continued in obedience.

I really tried to listen to what my employees had to say and I really cared about their feelings, concerns and their disappointments. All their points were so valuable and their feelings so important. I really want everyone to feel valued and I want everyone to be happy at work, however I’m human and I fail so often in something so important. It’s not about being right or wrong it’s about being heard and understood. Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;  James 1:19. A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1

Our biggest fail today? It was communication. Now imagine if I had not taken the time to call In a meeting to talk, it would of only had made matters worse.  Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29 Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips! Psalm 141:3

The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out folly. Proverbs 15:2 We will need to have more meetings and will start with weekly meetings because each person in my team is so important and so worth the time. When you want to lead a team the best teacher to ask for wisdom is God. He said if anyone lacks wisdom we should ask God and he will give it to us freely. James 1:5

Thank you God for today, another great lesson for me. God is good all the time and all the time God is good.

God loves you much❤️

  1. How good it is to find someone who also listens to (and obeys) God’s voice, even if obeying that voice isn’t an easy thing to do 🙂

I’m presently in the act of carrying out another of God’s orders, and that is, to change the OS I’m using in my PC (from one Linux distribution to another). A lot of work is involved, and a lot of time, but orders are orders 🙂

God knows what is best, and I know that this change of OS is the right thing to do.
