This morning when I asked God what I should write about today: God made it personal. In my prayer time God started to deal with me, he said why don’t you pray for this person today. π€
The person God wanted me to pray for is not one of my favorite people. Their attitude has not been on my good side and to top it of, just yesterday during an encounter this person again walk by people without greeting them or acknowledging them. I thought to myself: who does this person think that they are that they can’t even say good afternoon when passing by.
This persons attitude is not right -however who am I to judge?
So God then brought to my attention the word: PRIDE π. Ooh God can be so honest to us sometimes. Romes lets write about pride today. Well I’m sure this blog is going to be a great lesson to myself, praise the Lord.
To start of, I looked up the word pride and this is the first thing I found:
Simple Definition of pride
: a feeling that you respect yourself and deserve to be respected by other people
: a feeling that you are more important or better than other people
: a feeling of happiness that you get when you or someone you know does something good, difficult, etc.
I want to write about the second one: a feeling that you are more important or better than other people.
For the past couple of mornings my 4 year old and my 6 year old have been giving me a wonderful morning routine ( only in my dreams) ππ each one of them constantly coming to me to complain about what the other was doing. Mommy Jazz is playing with the milk, Mommy Jay hit me……..constantly Mommy, Mommy, Mommy π.
Last night when we arrived home and Jazz started the whole routine again, I asked my little girl to go stand in front of the mirror. She looked at me with a smile ( she loves to look at herself) and happily followed my instruction. I then asked her: who she was seeing in the mirror, she looked at me and said “Uhm I see Myself mommy” I asked her to focus on the mirror again and asked Jazz if the reflection in the mirror was her brother Jaymar. She looked at me with this half smiling question face and said (with an ofcourse not facial expression) – No Mommy.
I then asked her if she could focus on her mistakes for the upcoming days instead of her brother mistakes ( Of course I asked her in a different way she is only 6) Jazz happily agreed and I determined that everytime she forgets her (agreed) focus that I would bring her back to the mirror. Bonus: Jay also wants to play this game now – yeah π
Funny thing God reminded me this morning of the same illustration I had given my kids. God asked me how many times I had been prideful, I was going to be quick to answer and say: “I greet everyone” However God stopped me and said: what about your facial expression and what about your thoughts after greeting someone that does not greet you back – oeps πππ
I told God – okay I will do my outmost best to not focus on this persons attitude anymore, However God did not agree. Instead he brought to my mind that I should say something to this person about their behavior. Ooh I was ready to give them a piece of my mind, I played it out in my head already. However God stopped me and said no Romy not with pride but with love – ugh God – why me I asked. The person does not even seem to like me. God’s response then really touched me, He said: maybe I make this person attitude work on you so much so that you can help them change their prideful ways and in the process I can change your prideful ways π€
Well what else can I say? God knows my inner most thoughts, motives, reasons and feelings. God is so right and I’m so wrong. How often do we look at other people’s mistakes? And do we look at their mistakes to help them get better or to gossip about them? Do we feel we are more important than other people, I obviously do you can read it above. Why do I greet a person that greets no one else, I do it to show that person that I’m better then them but am I really? Pride!!!
The bible says this about that: Philippians 2:3: In whatever you do, donβt let selfishness or pride be your guide. Be humble, and honor others more than yourselves.
Honoring others more than yourself means that you would want them to do better than you, not you showing them you are better – that is pride.
The bible also says this: Proverbs 21:24: Proud people think they are better than others. They show they are evil by what they do.
We should help people: Galatians 6:1-3: Help Each Other,
Brothers and sisters, someone in your group might do something wrong. You who are following the Spirit should go to the one who is sinning. Help make that person right again, and do it in a gentle way. But be careful, because you might be tempted to sin too. 2 Help each other with your troubles. When you do this, you are obeying the law of Christ. 3 If you think you are too important to do this, you are only fooling yourself.
Do you know that satan fall was because of pride? You can read it here: Ezekiel 28:17: Your beauty made you proud. Your glory ruined your wisdom. So I threw you down to the ground, and now other kings stare at you.
Being prideful is not a good thing nor is judging people. We should instead of judging them, help them to be better. Together we can help each other change each other’s sin. Some people are not even aware of their sin, so we should lovely confront them.
When we look in the mirror we see ourselves – SINNERS!!! Who are pointing out other people’s sins. By us forgetting our own sins we won’t help anybody grow, including ourselves. Love covers a multitude of sins, lets help each other in love.
Such a great lesson for myself, I want to do right but then do so wrong – I truly need God everyday and every second. Thank you God for today, Amen.
God loves you muchβ€οΈ

i loved reading this im a true believer in becoming comfortable with the person in the mirror! the mirror if used in a positive way is an amazing tool! i helped my teenage daughter grow an incredible level of self esteem and healthy body imagine buy covering my bathroom walls w mirrors that way w out knowing it she was seeing herself and who she is constantly and becoming more and more comfortable with the way she looked then paying attention to the way others or magazines tried to tell her she should look or how she she should be. so many look into a mirror to check their hair or makeup and never take the time to look themselves in the eye and see if they like what they see. if that person is indeed who they want to be. funny thing is i did it all to help my daughter grow love for herself and never thought it would work for me too! i healed my own poor self esteem at the age of 40!

This is so inspiring, after years of abuse I look in the mirror and see me, a child of God & He “loves” me. I couldn’t do that before. I’m working on the rest.

Yes only God can heal you truly and pull out the roots of hurt. And only because of God you will be able to forgive which will deliver you from it all. Stay close to God and everything will be more than okay.
